IES Residential is seeking a Solar Consultant Area Sales Manager, in the Rio Grande Valley, TX area. The Sales manager will guide and manage a team of residential solar sales consultants working in a single market, assisting them to develop their skills and meet their individual goals while cultivating your own personal sales. Consultants work directly with individual homeowners selling all of IES Energy Solutions product lines, specifically, but not exclusively, solar photovoltaic energy systems with or without energy storage.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Build and recruit your team of talented Solar Consultants.
  • Develop individual sales goals for each consultant under your purview.
  • Participates in the new product development process to provide insight from the sales standpoint into product design and pricing.
  • Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.
  • Oversees and directs activities of sales consultants in your market.
  • Provides guidance and direction to the sales consultants to assist in their professional development.
  • Spend no less than eight day per month on “ride along” style contact with field sales personnel under their management.
  • Guide potential customers to discover their needs and then offer the best solution to make sure those needs are fulfilled
  • Work each phase of the sales cycle to resolve any engineering, project management or customer service issues
  • Represent IES in a positive light in the community and with customers
  • Be aware of the latest market trends and remain updated on product knowledge
  • Prospect new customers from cold calling, client referrals, networking, service organization membership, social media, and personal/extended networks
  • Represents company at trade association meetings to promote product.

  • Understanding of Quoting, Margin, Sales Tax, Etc.
  • Understanding of Sales Management and Sales Training


  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Engineering or Business, minimum of five years equivalent experience in directly equivalent work position
  • Two (2) years In-Home Sales Experience
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Must have a clean driving record
  • Must be able to work inside or outside in all weather conditions
  • Must be able to lift and carry 35 lbs. or more
  • Professional, accountable, reliable, and willing to go above & beyond to help satisfy any customer
  • Must have a completely flexible schedule; able to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and a minimum of 50 hours per week
  • Must complete all training from IES and any other required training
