General Job Description

IES Residential is currently seeking a Fiber Technician to join our Cable Construction Department.


The purpose of this position is to install new fiber, install fiber enclosures, splice, repair, maintain, test, proof or adjust as needed all fiber optic cables and related equipment in coordination with the Construction Fiber Optic Team. To insure maximum quality, peak performance and reliability of all fiber optic equipment. This position will be responsible for responding to fiber damage events, perform splicing repairs of fiber optic cables and report all information concerning damages to their Supervisor. The position is also be responsible for routing of fibers within hubs, including mux/demux installations, fiber termination equipment. 


Specific Qualifications

 

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license as well as a good driving record.
  • Must have your own Truck, Van or SUV
  • Must have experience splicing fiber
  • Extensive knowledge of all CATV equipment.
  • A Minimum of 2-4 years of Plant Maintenance background or previous fiber optic experience or technical schooling equivalent to meet company requirements.
  • Have basic knowledge of fiber optic systems, RF plant, and test equipment.
  • Must possess the ability to read and understand manufacture’s manuals for operating and repairing of electronic equipment and components.
  • Operate highly specialized test and fiber optic splicing equipment.
  • Must be motivated, a self-starter and must work well alone.
